In Reply to: SHAYNA - do you use Isotrex or the pharmacy compounded stuff? Please respond! posted by Anne on November 01, 2000 at 17:50:21:

: : : What about topical Accutane,does it work?

: : : I've heard about something called Isotrex!

: : Yes topical accutane works great!

:
: I am curious because I think I will start using it after I finish oral Accutane if my acne comes back. Also, do you know if you have to stay on topical Accutane for good? Or is it like oral Accutane - you only use it for a limited time. How are the side effects, too?

Hi Anne, actually my daughter uses the compounded kind. Our derm is so great and I suggested
we try it for my daughter. He was really open to it and gave me a prescription. I have a pharmacist friend who made it up for me.
Also we used my prescription that I didn't finish, the expiration date was still good and so why
spend the money. I think it isn't an approved treatment so MD's probably need to be careful, many
of my wholistic MD friends get ostracized by their peers, so they try to have a low profile. My
daughter is looking great, no more acne flares and her red marks are going away. Yeah!
Anyway I found this discovery from this board! That is what's great about everyones
contribution. Also Anne, I love your web site. If I was your mom, I would be telling everyone
how wonderful you are! Oh and to answer the rest of your post, I'm not sure we will have to
see if we need to continue it (like retinA ) There could be some systemic effects with long
term treatment I suspect. We will probably do our own study and follow with labs. But I don't
know if there has been any real proceedure to doing this treatment. In Europe maybe they
have info. They are usually way ahead of us in this sort of thing.
