: I'm 13 weeks into Accutane, and that flaking skin is a real b*tch, isn't it??? Plus, my skin is blotchy now, especially around my mouth area, so I really really need makeup. Right now, not even exfoliating seems to help me. My next course of action is AHA's. I can't even wear foundation right now it's so bad. And even just powder alone is getting super flaky. I HATE this too. AHHH! And the rough patches! I wrote a whole post about that below. This is driving me crazy. 2 more months, 2 more months...sigh...
here is an idea for exfoliating without putin gany harsh products on your face. Its called a home sauna. I made that up. Anyway, boil some water in a pan on your stove. Then steam your face over it for five minutes or so. Make sure not to get to close or you will burn yourself. Then go directly into the bathroom and wash your face blotting it dry, gently. Then take your fingers and rub the dead skin off your face. It will come off so easily. Then make sure to moisturize. Your face will probably look a little red right after you do this, but I usually do it at night so its all good. This will help with the flakyness during the days. I had to give up on powder. I would put it on in the morning and it would look fine. Then I would come home from school and look in the mirror and say "Oh my word, I saw people looking like this." It suck. I find that if I just put lotion on and then Maybline consealer on all my blemishes and scars, the makeup doesn't flake off so bad. Maybe not the best covereage, but you don't have any shine to cover, right. So that is my advice to you. Just think, you are getting close. I still have five more months to go. Sigh......Anyway, good luck and thanks for the support.
