I have had mild acne since the 4th grade. It has gradually worsened over the years. I finally broke down
this summer and decided to go to the dermatologist. I had just turned 16 and was able to drive myself to
a derm since my mom never wanted to carry me. I was prescribed doxycycline, 200 mgs, Benzamycin,
and Differin. For three months I used those. Things seemed a little better at times, but the worse out
weighed the bad. Last month I was switched to Minocycline, Cleocin-T, and Differin. This combination
has been HORRIBLE. My face has been extremely broken out since I've been on it. My face has never looked
as worse as it has since I started all of this medicine. I am so frustrated and don't really know what to do.
I have been at this messageboard reading around since July and have been keeping up with a lot of the posts
on Accutane. Before, I never thought I would qualify to take Accutane. But now, as I sit here today, I feel
like it is the only thing that will help. I am afraid to go off of the medicine I'm on now for the fear of breaking out even more.
Yet, I'm not sure my derm will prescribe Accutane. How do you go about about getting Accutane... do you have
to have blood tests done? Do you think it is a good idea to go on Accutane? I'm kinda scared to after a lot
of the things I've read on here. But I am about willing to go through anything if it means clear skin.
That is the only thing I want..
