Look, this is an isolated case. Everyone is very sorry for what happened to the congressman's son, but Accutane is a wonderful drug that has helped millions of people. There are no documented cases linking Accutane to suicide.
If anything, Accutane lifts depression that has been induced as a result of having acne. Now, I can see where if one saw Accutane as the end of the road, and even ACCUTANE, the "miracle wonder drug" proved ineffective for them, then that could certainly lead to depression. But the solution for that is for doctors to refrain from telling their patients that Accutane is the solution to all their problems. MY doctor told me Accutane would make me 100% clear. Fortunately, he was right. (almost) My skin is currently about 99% clear, and I am four months into a five month course of Accutane. But if I WASN'T experiencing such success with this medication, damn right I'd be depressed, after having been told it was more or less a cure.
So please, everyone, just disregard this message. This is a family who cannot accept that their son was likely clinically depressed in the absense of exigent circumstances, and so they are looking to blame somebody and make a dollar while they're at it.
