It seems to me that the human body could not possibly be as frail at is sometimes. Our we victims to our heridity? This is not likely in my mind, since mostly everyone through the ages of 13 and 22 has some kind of acne. So then I ask myself, why are humans the only mammals with this skin disease that drives us crazy? One of my theories is as follows: Humans have evolved from the ape family, and the ape family obviously had hair on the face. As evolution went on, hair began to disapper, but the sebum glands that produced hair were still there. Technically, according to this theory, acne should disappear from all humans in the next 1000 years or so, if evolution continues. Unfortunately, none us us will be alive then. My second theory deals with pollution. Before you critisize this theory, hear me out. In the times of the Romans, there was obviously no pollution, and there are no documents of a severe acne related disease. But, since pollution has become a major factor in much of our lives, acne has reached us all. I am fairly confident that those who live in remote areas of the country will be subject to clearer skin. My third theory deals with the evolution of "human habits". Over the past century, humans have devised many different ways to genetically engineer food and humans have become more and more lazy. The average adult male in the United States is overweight or obese. This is unacceptable. Maybe if we changed our habits a little more, we could at least see a decrease in the severity of our acne.
Can the human body possible be this frail? There are so many diseases out there. How can there be so many?
