I am a 29 year old female and I have been taking spironolactone 100 mg/day since February 1999 with absolutely no ill effects. I have had trouble with my skin since I was about 12 years old. I am now 29 and this is the first time in my life my skin has been clear. I have been on everyl kind of topical and oral antibiotic, different kinds of birth control pills, including orthotricyclen (which did not help me) and Accutane three times in the past 8 years. I have not seen any undesirable effects from taking spironolactone, in fact, I think it has even alleviated the mood swings and mild depression I used to experience as a result of oral contraception.
