I just started taking spironolactone for hirsutism, and my doctor has proscribed 200mg a day. He did however, tell me to gradually work up to 200mg. I started out with 50mg a day and then will work my way up to 200mg by the end of the first month. the drug has been shown to cause upset stomach in some people. so, maybe you should check with your doctor.
