: : : I HAVE BEEN SEEING A DOCTOR FOR OVER TWO YEARS TO TREAT CYSTIC ACNE ON MY FACE. IT IS ONLY ON MY LEFT SIDE STRAIGHT DOWN TO THE CORNER OF MY MOUTH. IT KEEPS SPREADING. I HAVE USED EVERY ANTIBIOTIC THE DOCTOR HAS PRESCRIBED AND KNOW HE SENT ME TO A PLASTIC SURGEON TO GET IT CUT OUT. HE IS OPPOSED TO GIVE ME ACUTANE. WHAT ELSE WILL WORK BESIDES SURGERY. RIGHT KNOW WE ARE FIGHTING WITH THE INSURANCE COMPANY BECAUSE THEY ARE SAYING THEY WILL NOT PAY BECAUSE THEY THINK IT IS COSMETIC SURGERY WICH IT IS NOT. WHAT ELSE IS THERE WHILE I AM IN A WAITING PERIOD FOR THE APPEALS PROCCESS WITH THE INSURANCE. I WOULD LOVE NOT TO HAVE TO HAVE SURGERY SO WHAT ELSE CAN I DO. DAC

: >If acutane does not work for you, your without many options at all. But, I would like to ask if you sleep on that side, because I've found that when my acne forms below my mouth on one side I can cure it with a combo of antibiotics and sleeping with my face pointing up. This will prevent saliva from keeping my skin moist for all 8 hours I'm asleep! This was a huge factor for me!
I have tried Accutane and have been for just over 7 months with NO positive results. yes I am a rare breed but i have been told that if Accutane doesn't work, nothing will.. which gives me a sick feeling at my stomach. get a second opinion with another dermatologist about Accutane. hopefully you will have better luck. ask him about a cortizone injection directly into the cyst. it WILL work but it is only a quick fix instead a cure to the problem. good luck!!
