Find another counselor. I'm 36 and have ADD. I know what your son is going through. Talk to the school counselor and see what they can do to help and try to find a support group for him with other teens that have ADD. Tell you wife not to blame herself. both of my kids have ADD and it's no ones fault. Get a book called "You mean I'm not Lazy, Stupid, or Crazy". It could help your wife and your son. Also, find the good points about their ADD. We all have them.
Good Luck,

: My teen was diagnosed with ADD (not HD) three years ago and is on Dexidrene. Organization skills continue to be a struggle and it is having a negative impact in his high school coursework. Late homework assignments etc... have caused a drop in his grades. One school official told me that he forgetting to come down for his medication and that she is unable to continue "tracking him down". My wife too has ADD and talking with her about his problems only causes her to blame herself. I don't want that. We did go for family counseling a while back. The therapist said that his behaviors are normal for a teen. She denied that ADD was a factor.
: Suggestions?
