HI - My son is 16 years old and has been taking Ritalin since he was approximately 9 or 10 yrs old. In recent years, we tried the slow release medication which worked well during school hours. By the way, he seems to only need the meds during schooltime. Doesn't take it on the weekends or during the summer. My question is: we don't think Ritalin is as effective as before and were wondering before we go to the doctor next month, what advantages/disadvantages to Adderall? Is it worth changing to new meds? Or is he just outgrowing any stimulants like this? He isn't hyperactive but find he gets hyper after the meds wear off for a short time. Thanks for your info
