I am a school teacher and I have suffered with ADD along with my children. I agree with the ideas presented but would like to add another. Because the problem is attention I had to do something to make it interesting. I would make a rhyme or a funny saying out of the facts to help me remember. I would also catagorize topics and then memorize the first letter of each word to help me recall.
