: I would be interviewing professionals for the one that seems to connect with you and your son. You need to do everything you can to get that going. It is difficult to undo labels attached to young children during thier school years. Help is important and do not waste any time in getting appropriate help.

My son who is now 8 had many of the same symptoms he was constantly in trouble for one thing or anothe, his behavior was that of a child much younger . i went to my sons school and requested a meeting of all the professionals... school psychologist, counselors, teachers, and the principle. I made it clear that something was not right. They refered me to my pediatrician who refered me to a psychiatrist for a full evaluation. He also gave my son a full medical exam to rule out any physical problems.MY son was diagnosed as ADHD and ODD Odd is oppositional defiant disorder. this often goes along with adhd. we currently see a psychologist every 2 weeks and work closely with the school. I can't say things are terrific now that he has been diagnosed we still have some problems finding the right therapist for him but things are looking up. He takes 10mg of adderall once a day ....only for school.at home he is not medicated. medication is a personal choice, you dont know how it will work if you don't try. start with your pediatrician, he or she will ber able to help steer you in the right direction. good luck
