: Thank you for your response. My sons motor skills are not where they should be either. It is sounding more and more like ADD. I am doing lots of research now. Is your child on Ritalin? I do not want my child on medication and was wondering if there is alternatives. Is Ritalin only for ADHD? I look forward to your replies.

Yes my son is on Ritalin but there are many other drugs out there to use and yes you can try alternatives. I went with the meds after having him tested since I felt he needed all the help he can get. I didn't feel it would be to his advantage to play around with the alternatives trying to find one that would work while he struggles in school so badly. I can try alternatives as time goes on but right now he needed immediate help. I liken using the medication to a child who has diabetes. Would you deny them medication just becuase you don't like to see a child on medication?? Also remember that ADHD is not the same as ADD. Ritalin has been used for both and so have many other drugs such as Adderall and Cylert etc. If you have any further questions or just want to chat you can e-mail at mlgable@home.com I hope this has been helpful as I realize many people are against drugs for kids but when you child is struggling so and has an actual diagnosed case of ADD you want to help them in any way you can.
