: I was recently told by my 8 year old daughters teacher that she shows signs of ADD in the classroom. I know there was something going on, but I never considered ADD. She is a very bright, active little girl, but she is VERY emotional. She gets upset at the least little things and cries. I know that children with ADD have problems focusing and concentrating, but are these emotional outbreaks also symptoms? I don't know where to go from here. I would be greatful for any comments or suggestions.

The first thing you need to do is to take her to your regular MD and tell him about the teachers suspecting ADD. Ask him for a referral to a clinic that does testing for ADD and then you can take things from there. Emotions can play a part in ADD especially when these kids get frustrated. Good luck
