I am the mother of an eight year old boy who was diagnosed ADHD when he was 5. He was first prescribed Adderall but this increased violent beahvior and his aggression. He was then switched to Ritalin and has been on it ever since. He is currently on a total daily dosage of 25mg (15 in the morning and 10 at lunch time). For the past month, it is like he is on no medication at all. He is struggling to complete daily classroom assignments and is constantly in trouble for disrupting the class (outburts, getting up out of his chair, etc.) His teacher is not very ADHD friendly and I feel as though he is constantly singled out. He does curently have an IEP for the ADHD and does go to a Special Education class one hour a day to assist with his reading and organizational skills. Is anyone familiar with the school guidelines for disciplining children with ADHD? I am very aware that ultimately my child is responsible for his actions but most of the things he is being called down for are manifistations of his condition. I would appreciate feedback from anyone with information or personal experience re. this situation. Thank you :-)
