: I have recently been diagnosed with ADD. I am 48 years old. I am elated to find that there is something that can help me. All my life I felt there was something missing...something that everyone else knew and I didn't. If there is someone who is a recently diagnosed adult and cares to share their experience I would be most grateful.

Pete: I am 44 and was diagnosed two weeks ago. I suspected a few months ago while have my son tested. We have no hyperactivity and are able to sustain focus for many things, so I did not believe we had ADD. I was SO wrong!! I feel as you did, that there was something missing and everyone else had it. But for me that's "just the way it is." Now I know that's not the way it has to be, but I haven't been on medication long enough to see a difference. I have read what it can be like and I WANT IT!!! In the meantime, I realize there is a process to go through and that I can't do it alone. I will be finding a support group in my area, because suddenly I'm not an "I" any more...I'm a "WE". Good luck to you.

Janet
