: After my daughter was tested and diagnosed with ADD, I researched more about it and it seems that my son and my husband and myself all show signs of this disorder. My life is chaotic and feels out of control; can people make life work with this situation?
If it makes you feel any better, I can tell you that EVERYBODY has a dysfunctional family. I do know what you're talking about though - things get crazy, don't they? If you seriously suspect a CHRONIC problem, then it's worth getting it checked out. If one member has been positively identified as ADD, then there's very likely to be more affected by it. It's very likely that even if not everyone has attention problems, then they may have problems with other types of impulsivity.
I think we have to adjust our expectations and realize that, although things may get better with medication and behavioral therapy, things will never be quite like the Cleaver household. At least it's not boring! ;)
