I have a 9 year old boy, and although he doesn't exhibit violent or hyperactive tendencies, I am having a HORRIBLE time with him at bedtime. This has gone on for most of his life. I have felt like it has been all my fault, like I am a horrible mother. Today, I was put on Adderall, my therapist and family Dr. and I worked together and decided that I may benefit from this medication. I am pleased to tell you that after one day I am feeling a bit more peace in my life, I am not yelling and screaming at my son to go to bed. I am letting him go for the time being. He is a straight A student and always has GLOWING behavioral reports from his teachers. But, when I answer some key questionnaires on ADD, I can answer almost all a resounding YES! Next week I am arranging to have my son tested for ADD. I can only hope and pray that Adderall will help him ease some of his bedtime tensions and he will fall asleep more readily.
