: My 8 year old step son has just been diagnosed with ADD. The doctor prescribed Dexidrine for him. Has anyone had any experience with this medicine? What are the side effects? How affective has it been for your child?

I am an adult with ADHD, my Dr started me out on Ritalin, then Dexidrine, now I am on Adderall
What he told me is Dexidrine tends to make you more aggressive if you have that personality trait (which I do) and when I was on the Dexidrine I did notice a slight difference.
I like Adderall the best but my lovely insurance does not cover it and it is quite expensive but I pay for it myself just because it helps me focus so much. Good luck, if you search the web for ADD there is a lot of info out there on ADD and the drugs used to treat it.
