: : : We have an ADHD 10 year old girl. She has been on Ridilin for two school years. One of the greatest problems we have had is getting her to bring home her assignments. This includes notice of future test. We have run out of ideas and are running out of patience. Encouragement and then, alternatively threats to suspend her soccer and horseback riding seem to have no effect. Any help out there?
: : The previous post was good but didn't address the problem of her not bringing the actual WORK home with her. That is where my problem is. My son has a tracker sheet that the teacher writes his assignments etc on but he doesn't always seem to have the necessary papers or books with him to do the assignment. I still haven't figured out how to take care of that one yet. Good Luck.
: Our daughter also has that problem, and it hasn't been solved yet. She always forgets one book or paper a day. Usually I remind her before she goes to bed and again before she goes to school and she either does it as soon as she gets to school or brings it home the next day with her. Believe me I finally gave up after running her back to school to retrieve these things. Lots of kids have this problem of forgeting to bring their work home at the end of the day, its not just her. I spoke to her teacher about and since you can't sit right beside her all day and remind her to bring her stuff home, the best thing you can do is speak to the teacher at a conference and discuss this problem. I did and the teacher recommended getting the IST teacher in to do an evaluation, because it seemed to us that she needed help with her organizational skills. If you ask for help with your child at school for this or other problems, they have to help you its the law. So speak to them and get them to get you some help like we did. If you need more info. let me know.
::I have two kids that have HAAD and they both forget something everyday. I stopped going to the school to bring thier things to them. They do try to think about what they need before they leave for school. But they always still forget something. I have decided to just let it go and see what happens. My doctor said that they could possibly grow out of this. And that it helps if they have a strong routine that they stick to very closely...
