: I would like to know what federal regulations or state law requires for a time limit within which a school must test for ADD after the parents have made a formal request.

I personally don't know of any schools that have the equipment nor professional staff to do the testing. Here you go to a clinic to have the testing done and a phsychologist tells you what the test results show and tells you what your options are etc. I was not allowed in with my son during any part of his testing so that there were no distractions to interfere with the test results. Please check with your school officials about this as I have never heard of the school being responsible to test for ADD. Not sure it would be cost effiecient for them to have the testing equipment nor to pay the professional staff to administer the tests when there are clinics that do this day in and day out.
