I have a 19 y/o son who is in community college and all year long he has refused to take his meds. He knows that he needs the meds to stay focused but sees the meds as a control over him. He says that his grades are fine but then later they come in all bad. He says that he wants to stay in school but refuses the meds. Does anyone out there have a similar situation? We tell him that like an alcoholic he must want to be better in order to help himself. He doesn't want any intervention by the guidance folks or the 504 monitors. Only when things get totally out of control does he ask for help. When we help he says to back off and quit trying to control him. Any guidance???
