: : Beverly, I read your message and understand your fustration. I don't know what you mean by PTSD? I do however know about ODD and ADHD. ODD is a persistant pattern lasting for at least 6 months) of negative, hostile, disobediant, and defiant behavior in a child or adolesant without serious violation of the basic rights of others.Losing temper, arguing with adults, defying adults, refusing simple requests, blaming others for own behavior, spiteful, vindictive, swearing, low opinion of one's self, moody, easily frustrated, may abuse drugs as a result. Talk to a psychiatrist not a pediatrician. Treat the mood disorder first before the ADHD. the too can be combined or separate. Depression can result in this behavior as well. Stimulant medications can exasterbate the problem in some children. Check medication dosages often, journal behaviors daily while trying to get the right dose of any medication, stay in close contact with your "Psychiatrist during this time . ODD can be treated with medication, check with your Dr. Antidepressants are sometimes used in conjunction with ADD stimulant medications to reduce negative rebounding in the evening. Prescribing drugs is not an exact Science, each individual is different and the effects of drugs are different on each person. More is not better. Best of luck. Karen
Hi Beverly, I have a child with ADHD and ODD (what exactly is PTSD?). He was diagnosed in 1998. It is a tough road but try to stay away from drugs. We are currently trying homeopathy. Email me if you'd like to talk. Julia.
