: : Our son picks at his finger and under the nails while taking the Ritalin. We have watched him while at home an not on the Ritalin an we don't see this, even his teacher has notice this an mention this it to me on several occassions. I ask his Doctor about it but he said that this was not a side effect of Ritalin. Does anyone else see this in there child while they are taking Ritalin? Any help would be greatly appreicated.

: I don't know how you feel about trying other stimulants....we've been thru the dexedrine, and now are on adderall....
: the adderral seems to have less anxiety ridden side effects....in fact he is much calmer all around.....it may be worth a consideration.

Shannon:
I am an 18 year old college student. I was officially diagnosed with ADD at age 15. I first tried cylert and effixer and it left me nausiated
and nervous. Now I am taking Adderral(20 mg). I is much better with side effects. I do not feel nervous or nausiated if I eat something right after
taking it. But if I eat a lot then I find it is not quite as effective. But if I eat nothing I act down and have no energy. My roommate notices this, that
I am not as happy and positive as usual. I act somewhat mellow. However, when I eat I am fine. I also tried ritalin at a younger age when my doctor
thought I may have had ADD but had not diagnosed me. I do not remember much about it, but my mother took me off of it. I found that cylert and
effixer were the most beneficial for my attention and concentration, but not being able to sleep, nervousness, and nausea were not worth it. But
however, my current psych. has told my mother and I that there has been improvement on these two so as to not cause so many side effects.
