Lisa, I had my son talk to the psychologist who made the diagnosis. (The psych. is providing counseling). We are going for some family sessions to help us understand what is going on. The psychologist was able to explain ADD to him, and he was open to trying medicine. He has started on Ritalin, and his teacher reported more positive behavior in the classroom. We have upped the dose to 20 mg 4 times a day, which gives the best effect. Side effects were almost nonexistent, with only a headache the first day on Ritalin (cured with a Tylenol).

My son has decided to keep taking the medicine in the summer. He's feeling better about himself and knows he is a good child who is valued and wanted.
