Children who have been exposed to lead are sometimes wrongly diagnosed as having ADHD. If your child has behaviour problems and you live in a pre 1960s house or have grey (lead) water pipes test the paint and water or have the child's blood tested before starting ADHD medication. Boys absorb lead more than girls and children more than adults - so if the rest of the family is OK it doesn't mean there can't be a problem.
