: Hello, I have a 9 yr old daughter that may have ADD. My 5 yr old son has Autism , so I am going to get his doctor to evaluate her , but in the meantime any information would be helpful . As a child Rachel would always cry for me and be very dependent on me . I have always had to help her do everything . Things like brushing her hair , still help her put her shoes and socks on button her buttons . When I tell her a direction , for example ... Rachel go put the book on the table , she will ask ,, where do you want me to put the book ,, she forgets that quick !!! And if she thinks she did'nt bring an assignment home , she gets hysterical and starts crying uncontrollable. She is'nt hyper !! Just has a hard time remebering what she is told to do . She also has a hard time comprehending what she reads .... She reads fast ,, but don't know what she just read about .. She is a very good loving and sweet child but has a hard time paying attention !! Alot of times she stares off in space ... If anyone would like to ,, you can write me at DeAnnaStewart74@aol.com ,,, Thank you , I would appreciate it ,, Have a good day ! I want to get her as much help as possible .. Has any certain medications worked for anyone???
Have your regular doctor recommend ADD testing at your nearest center or clinic that does ADD testing. Even if she doesn't have ADD the testing will more than likely give good clues as to what the problem is. Both of my kids have needed ADD testing but only one is truely ADD. His sister has some ADD tendencies but not enough that it's ADD causing her problems. Go ahead with the testing for ADD and get a better idea of what is going on.
