My daughter is now 5 but was diagnosed when she was 2 yrs old. She never slept through the night from the day she was born. She would only sleep for about 4 hours a night. I started to get concerned because she was not getting the rest she needed. Then I started watching her and she would try to play but couldn't. She would pick something up play with it for a minute or two and off she would be to the next thing. I finally took her to her Dr. and told her that I wanted something done for her. She gave me the routine speech, she was to young blah! blah! I did my own research and found out she met all the criteria for ADHD. So with the info in hand I headed straight back to her Dr. and then she did finally help her and put her on Ritalin though she is now on Adderall, because if my recent research, she probablly would have been on the Ritalin forever. I think that it works much better for her and ther are no side effects for her. My best advice is do your research there are tons of web sites on the internet. Get well informed and then go back to the Dr. and put your foot down and make them help her. If they still refuse find another Dr. that will. My daughter though only 5 will tell you that her medication helps her greatly and that without everything is too fast. And one other note when she did start the medication you should have seen that little girl blossom. She is a little smarty pants now. LOL.
Love has no boundaries when it comes to our children. :0)
