In Reply to: I am a 19 y/o female w/DD, and I feel I am too old to be taking Ritalin...any natural alternatives? posted by Anne on September 02, 2000 at 13:55:45:

: I have always been a straight A student (which just goes to show that ADD is NOT synonomous with stupid, as many people mistakenly believe) but I am not 19 and in college (going to school to be a Police Officer, no less) and I feel too old to be taking Ritalin. However, I am kind of...forgetful. Any suggestions? I am sick of taking prescription meds...I am looking for a vitamin supplement or maybe something herbal?
: Thanks in advance

One thing you could try is a book about diet for people and children who have ADD or ADHD. It is called the "ADD and ADHD Diet for Children. The author is Rachell Bell. It is a pink colored book, thin. It basically is a low carbo diet and you eliminate sugar and stuff that are startchy foods. It has help us and our chldren. We are on Adderall and Tenex along with Risperdal. How ever you may be lucky and only need the Adderall or Ritalin. I think personally Adderall is much better. There are certianly no miracle cures. Have you been diagnoised with any thing like Diabetes. That is very hard to find out about. Most doctors dont want to talk to you about it. Anyway good luck and stay in school.
