We took my son out of public school in 7th grade because the school "didn't have time" to give us his assignments so we could make sure he did them.
He went back this year (9th grade) because he wanted to play football. They are using his IEP from 7th grade (tho not following it) and he made a 65 in bio the first six weeks and was suspended from games. He was out sick for almost 2 weeks and they waited till the end of the sick weeks to give him the bio makeup test. He quickly started the 2nd 6 weeks with a 96 in biology. After 3 weeks he didn't write down and do and assignment which put him at 61 in speech right before grades went in. He turned the assignment in and it brought his grade up to 86. But, it knocked him out of playing in games for the rest of the season. The state law says you can be suspended with a disability if you fail following the IEP. However, the teachers are not following. They did not give him organizational help for assignments. We finally got a meeting for a new IEP next Wed. His self-esteem is 0 because of the suspension from football. (Like it was when we moved him out of public school before). I need help for Wed. It would help him so much if he could play the last three games. Does anyone have any experience with this and can you help me please?!
