: Our 8 year old son has exhibited tendancies in all these areas. School wants to simply label him ADD. Dr. simply wants to address concerns at school so he can at least concentrate and stay on task.
: He shows an inability to stay on task and vocus, obsessive compulsive actions, violence to others in associated with daily social interactions, inflexibility/intolerance. What affect can Ritalin have on his anxiety and OCD? Is Adderal a better choice?
WHOA!!!!! First off before anyone sticks a lable on your child take him to a clinic that tests for these things and get him tested. Without an official diagnosis of any of these disorders via test results I would NEVER put my child on any medication. Once tested they can recommend what should be done for what ever diagnosis he tests positive for. As for which medication will work best............that is something that will have to be by trial and error since what works for one child may not do a thing for the next one or may cause awful side effects etc. You should go with what is recommended following proper testing and then take it from there.
