I am an 35 YO adult and I've been diagnosed w/ADD.
Looking back, I was the typical child prodigy with a 160 IQ and hyperactivity. Year after year, I was told I wasn't living up to my potential. " Lazy, never sits down, can't concentrate" I performed poorly in math but excelled in the arts and sciences.
This was the pattern through high school and college. I played my way through, getting by with average work and above average smile and attitude.
Now I'm hearing the same things at my job. "never sits down, doesn't work well in meetings. Speaks w/o thinking"... I finally decided to take control of my life and went to my Dr.. She put me on Ritalin and told me I should be a "new man".
Can you share your thoughts?
-How long should it take for me to start to feel the effects of the medication? I know it's different for everyone, but any answer would be great.
I't been a few days and I'm getting concerned that it's not working. Typical impatient ADDr talking :-)
-Are there any sexual side effects? I could not find anything listed anywhere but I'm just curious.
- Has anyone had any bad experiences w/alcohol while on ritalin?
- What has been your typical maintainence dose?
Any feedback would be great..
