In Reply to: Anyone hear of treating ADHD with caffeine?? posted by Sheryl on November 12, 1999 at 16:58:56:

I have ADD and when I was in college before and when I was in my military training, I tried coffee and even caffine pills to get me to stay awake in class. Nothing worked, I could even take them every hour and I would still fall asleep. Not only that, but the coffee seemed to make me lose my temper. The only thing that did work was to stand up and kind of move shift my body back and forth, because if I just stood there I would still go to sleep. Studing was the same way, If I could find a place to put my books where I could stand and study, the process was much easier. (Though I do find a mild brew of green tea to be an excellent study aide.) The real solution for me in class though was to find an inviroment that was more interactive in which I could contribute new ideas and concepts to the class at anytime.

Moral to the story: Caffine can only help if the inviroment is basically suited to the ADD'er. (Naturally my own opinion.)
