: : My daughter was just diagnosed with ADHD - Inattentive.
: : My husband and I are unsure on whether or not we should medicate her. I heard that Adderall works well with the "Inattentive" type of ADHD with less side effects than Ritalin. My pediatrician has not seen any documentation on Adderall. I am looking for any information on the drug. Or any help someone can give us.
: I am an adult w/ ADD. I am pregnant now so I am not on Adderall now but I took it from 2/99 to 5/99. It helped me so much but there were a few little side effects. Weight loss and brusing on my legs were the 2 most drastic. I will go back on after the baby is born.
SUSI - Please, please understand that the side effects of Adderall are far greater than weight loss and bruising. Taken from the FDA filing by the manufacturer, the following are also side effects:
Severe stomach pain
Permanent disfiguring facial tics
Stunting of growth in children (remember the brain is also part of the body and can be stunted too)
Suicide (upon going off of the medication)
There are more. This is NOT a harmless drug, to you or your future child. Adderall, Ritalin, and their generics counterparts are class II Narcotic Controlled substances in the same class with cocaine, other ampetamines and crystal meth.
EDUCATE yourself. Feel free to e-mail me if you like.
