: has anyone tried synthyroid for ADD in children? Ritalin kills the appetite and gives headachs. i am taking synthroid for depression and an as good as cured (i tested normal for thyroid dysfunction) thankyou for your time!
Well...interesting...my son has been on Ritalin for 2 years and we just took him off. That same week, during his annual physical, I (for no reason that I can remember) requested that our pediatrician test his liver and thyroid. Well..she didn't really want to and saw no reason to do so, but humored my husband and me. We got the test results back today...higher than normal TSH (thyroid stimulating hormone). Hmmm...just wondering if there is any link between memory loss, inability to concentrate, etc...We're just getting into all of this unchartered territory, but wondered if this is somehow connected to what you are talking about with this medication. If not, you don't have to respond, but if you've heard anything, let me know.
