Shar,
You say that everyone says not to medicate, but the doctor is suggesting you do. Listen to the doctor. They are trained in this. I take medication for ADD as do both of my children. I wish there had been more awareness of this disorder when I was growing up. Meds would have made my life a lot easier. Find a support group or other parents that are medicating there kids. If your childs vision is impaired, wouldn't you get her some glasses? If your child was crippled, you wouldnt expect her to walk. Some of our brains don't fire properly. I was told many times that I was lazy and that if I wanted to I could concentrate better. Not true. Don't listen to the uneducated ravings of people that have been influenced by things they here. Do your own research and make an educated decision.
Good Luck,
Toad
