: I need help. My son is on 4th grade and is struggling. He was tested last year and the school said they just thought he needed some extra help. This year is worse. He is struggling in all areas. He is giving 110% effort but he just isn't getting it. I just started to read "Think Fast-the Add Experience" because I have had some concerns regarding myself and ADD. I then couldn't believe how many things sounded like me son. How he is so distracted. He always complains that he has "bubbles" in his head, he is not hyperactive by any means but there is definitely something going on. Where do I turn, what do I do? I feel the school doesn't want to do much because it will cost money,. Ifeel he is slipping through the cracks. ANyone out there with any insight to this???? By the way, after reading that book I am going to talk to my dr. about myself and ADD. It is scarey how much I fit the profile. HELP!

Toad's advice is right on, "Educate yourself". But be sure you educate yourself about all issues regarding the "medications" usually perscribed for ADD. Read the good and the bad and make up your own mind. Read what the drug manufacturer has to say about the drugs along with what FDA and DEA say. There is a wealth of information available to you on the net.
