: I'M A FATHER OF A CHILD THAT 13 YEARS OLD WITH ADHD AND ON RITALIN. I AM DIVORCED FROM HIS MOTHER BUT I HAVE JOINT COUSTODY OF HIM. I HAVE BEEN TRYING TO TALK TO HER ABOUT TAKING HIM OFF THE RITALIN BUT SHE WILL NOT LESSON TO ME. IS THERE ANYONE OUT THERE THAT CAN GIVE ME ANY INFORMATION ON THE FINDING ON LONG TERM USE OF RITALIN HE HAS BEEN ON IT SENCE HE WAS 7 YEARS OLD.

: THANKS.

I have a son who until recently was on ritalin, now is on adderall. Think how your son is doing in school. When you work with @ home how is he when it comes to studying? My son cannot concentrate long enough to do his homework w/o med. How does child handle situations when he is required to sit & concentrate, school, church etc. Take time off from work & observe his class time. How do his actions, emotions, compare with others in his class setting? None of us WANT our kids on meds. sometimes it is necessary. I have an older step son who did not receive meds. His mom refused, he wishes now he had had them. He dropped out of school. I forced him & bio parents to go to a counselor when he was younger, the counselor even said he needed med. His mom refused to let him go& moved out of state. He now says he wishes he had been able to at least try med.
