I was recently diagnosed about a week ago for ADHD, and I'm 19 now. The past 13 years of school were a living Hell because I was not interested in the material and I could not force myself to focus on the work. Even things I was interested in I couldn't give proper attention to. I've been taking methylphenidate for about two days now, and I can already tell the difference in my concentration, it's also easier for me to fall asleep now. I'm not sure I agree with medicating toddlers, in fact I think that's almost twisted. But I think if you take your 13 year old off ritalin you may throw him into a world of hurt. But, I think it would be a good idea to talk to a doctor about taking him off it for a month or so, just to see how he does; it could be he doesn't really need it anymore. Be sure to talk to a doctor though, he could go into withdrawl.
