: Our middle grandson, 6, is becoming increasingly angry with siblings, and recently with parents and us - blatant defiance, spitting and kicking during any activity wherein he is asked to conform (eg. bedtime, etc.). His parents divorce is in process, but we have seen the progression since long before that. Lately, he seems comfortable talking about 'killing people' - usually younger brother, but occasionally adults too. Too much Pokemon exposure ? If ADD is diagnosed (he concentrates well, but seldom on his schoolwork), can Ritalin help the misbehavior, too ?
Reply: Ritalin can definitely help misbehavior in ADD children. By reducing the impulsivity they calm down and cool down. It improves their social relations with other children as well as with parents. Ritalin is a medicine and should be used only after proper diagnosis and as prescribed. But if it is indicated it can definitely help misbehavior. Knute.
