it was originally sold in gnc's for weight lifters but soon after kids realized that it had "recreational" qualities. i think it affects gaba in the brain, somewhat like valium or other depressants. the dea banned it, i believe in the early 90's. from what i know its effects are similar to alcohol in its depressant action but with a "euphoric" component and it is extremely potent. a small amount lasts hours. the problem is that because of its potency if you use just a little too much you can overdose and die, pretty easily from what ive read. its generally a liquid i think although i assume it can be a powder. its also odorless, colorless, tasteless etc, so its difficult to detect. its been used more in raves as well as in date rapes, because of its incapacitating effects. although ive read that it use is growing i havent encountered it or even heard people talking about it at my college so i don't think its use is that widespread yet.
