I have been following your posts and am very interested in your
story and if you do not mind I will ask some questions, in the
interest of helping others get off of MMT.
You said you have been on methadone for 30 years, did you start
as a pain patient or a addict? You must be one of the original
patients if you are an addict. What dose were you on for the bulk
of your time on methadone, and did you do a taper to get off or
just switch to the pills?
Did you ever cold turkey detox from methadone?
If you just switched to the pills, did you experience any discomfort
when you stopped the methadone?
Is your goal abstinence, and if you use methadone for pain
management, what will you do to deal with the pain now that you
are off of it, and will be stopping the pills?
Do you think you will go back to the methadone, if you do not get
a refill for the pills, or are you going to cold turkey it?
If you cold turkey it, do you think some type of on line support
group will be of help to you, and would you want to start one?
Some many questions, so little time!
Thanks for your answers.
Is anyone interested in an on line support group for methadone

: : : : : : : TO SANDY:
: : : : : : : I HAVE BEEN LOOKING FOR SOMETHING TO HELP EASE ME OFF PERCOCET/OXYCODONE/HYDROCODONE FOR ABOUT 52 DAYS NOW, WHILE I WITHDRAW FROM METHADONE. IF THAT IS THE CORRECT SPELLING "ULTRAM" THANKS. IF YOU HAVE A GENERIC NAME FOR IT, EVEN BETTER.
: : : : : : BUT....doesn't ULTRAM'S have Codeine in it ? ?
: : : Another thought...Have you tried OXYCOTIN..It has the hydrocodone in it but it's Time released..one tablet, every 12 hours. It doesn't get you off of the hydro's ,but it sure cut down on the amount you take..my boyfriend has been on lorcets10/500 for 16 mos. now and found himself taking 3 times the amount he should take..Instead of 1 every 4 to 6 hours it ended up being 1 evey 2 hours.(he was going to atleast 3 drs. a month.) So his dr. put him on the OXYCOTIN and he takes 1 evey 12 hrs..hope this helps..
: : STAY AWAY FROM ULTRAM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
: : If you think its hard getting off hydrocodine....is NOTHING compared to getting off Ultram. It has THE MOST VISCOUS withdraw symptoms.
: : I've been on Ultram for a year now and I cannot get off..I mean I CAN'T...the body will NOT let you. It's NOT your typical mind over matter addiction...it's physical. ONE DAY without it results in stomach aches, vomiting, fever, cold sweat, no sleep, EXTREAM depression and seizures.
: : and then makes your muscles cramp.
: : I thought I was the only one but then I did research on the message boards and have found hundreds of other with the EXACT same symptoms.
: : This drug should be pulled. STAY OFF IT!!!
: : Do your research. It's more then a addiction, it's a violent reaction.I've had addiction problems in the past but Ultram BY FAR IS TRHE WORST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
: From Carolina to Jwills:
: Thanks for the info on ULTRAM. However, I am truly afraid of the withdrawals that I know will come from these 2 "heavy months" of percocet/oxycodone use. I am now "62" days free of methadone, but look what has replaced it. I have received someinfo on the posts regarding skullcap, kava and valerian herbs that are supposed to help with the sleeplessness, nervousness, etc.I am taking 5/325 mg of the percocet. 3 in the morning and 3 in the evening. I have resisted taking more than that.
: I just filled a prescription for 60 more today. I don't know if I'm going to be able to bullshit my way for another prescription. Going back to methadone would definitely be horrible, especially after being on it for 30+ years. What do you think, Jwills?.
