: My husabnd has been addicted to hydrocodone and other pain pills for over 10 years now. He has been taking roughly 40-50 pills a day and now has hit rock bottom. I never realized how bad it actually was because he kept it such a secret. He has gotten himself in trouble now by trying to feed his addiction. He is getting ready to start treatment to cure his horrible disease. Can anyone clue me in on how I can help him beat this addiction.

I was addicted to cocaine, so I did not have to fight the nasty withdrawal from opiate drugs, but I have some good friends who were heroin addicts and am a member if an AA group that has many former addicts. Iwas in rehab with a wonderful woman who was addicted to oxycodone - she chose NOT to go for methadone therapy but to go straight to cold turkey in detox. Your husband could benefit from a detox/rehab program and I think that yu should go to Alanon or some other like program. When your husband is out of in-patient treatment he should do a a 90/90 - 90 meetings in 90 days to get the program in his head - AA?NA WORKS - it really really does. It saved my life and the life of many people I know. Good luck!
