: Dear Christine,

: Are you the one who posted, that was a former addict, drug free for a year?

: I've considered NA, but the part that deals with God just turns me off. I'm an agnostic, and I think that a lot of the 12 step programs have religion as a basis. I, too, suffer from the addiction WITH my husband, so al anon isn't an option. We're trying, one step at a time....

Hey Victoria -

Many addicts are also codependent - which Alanon adresses. AA/NA will too

I too, have/had MAJOR issues with the God thing - if you go to meetings you will here others who struggled with it too. I always thought religion was for people who were afraid to die. I was too intellectual. Followers were sheep!

I STILL don't know what I believe in... Spirituality is different than religion, however, I believe. To get sober - all you need is the willingness to believe that there is a possiblity of a higher power - NOT NECESSARILY GOD!! Faith is the only thing that is important. You have ot have faith ihat something - anything - someone - will get you clean because you can't do it alone.

Go to a meeting. Listen. Trust. BEst of luck.
