My boyfriend has been taking zanax and ativan for at least four months that i know of. he recently told me this. I dont know the amount of zanax, but the ativan is 2mg. i think the zanax may be 3mg. per day. he says he has not taken them together he just has prescriptions for both. he has these symptoms: he gets really tired and slurs his speech, he staggers around, he falls asleep instantly, he wets the bed, he has nightmares sometimes, he gets migrain headaches, he gets confused and irratable and sometimes he starts making no sense at all as if he were really drunk. at first i thought that maybe he was experiencing low blood sugars, but that may not be it at all, although he sometimes feels a little better when he drinks juice. is it possible he is addicted? is the prescription too high? i dont think this is how the doctor would want him to be.
there is another problem too. he is going in for an mri thurs. because he has had an incident where he had a sharp pain in his head and then felt momentarily parylyzed. could this be a side effect?? he has not told this new doctor that he is taking this medicine.I myself dont know much about either drug so any insight would be helpful, especially about the head pain and feeling like he can't move or "almost like he was having a seizure". thanks alot. -concerned girlfriend
