I don't thing it is the methadone causing your daugher's problems, so much as the Hep C. Methadone is stored in the liver and is not metabolzied properly when the liver is diseased. One thing you should be made aware of is that Drs. prescribe methadone to non-addicts HCV pateints for pain frequently because it is one of the most harmless pain relievers avaialble. Has you daughter undergone the Rebetron treatment for Hep C? I think she may find the methadone will help her tremendously. Just for your information, most people on the methadone program have Hep c because of IV drug use. It is a much worse epidemic than AIDS ever was. I wish your daughter luck. There is much info on both Hep C and methadoen on the Internet. I hope you take advantage of this, as HCV is a life-threatening illness.
