: : any one out there who is or has been or knows someone who is addicted to their therapist and his therapy? it seems that recovery is not the by-product of this process, yet that was the original purpose..it seems that once a week isn't enough, that daily calls are becoming a need..driving by the house, the office..needing to connect...seems addictive to me..more than alcohol, more than cigarettes and more than the antidepressants..perhaps its a personal issue?
: I have been in treatment and recovering for over a year. You are showing all the signs of cross-addiction. We have an obsessive-compulsive disorder that can manifest itself in other addictions. I'm surprised your therapist hasn't pointed it out (and maybe he has). It's the mental, emotional abnormality that you need to treat. Drug addiction and other disorders are the by-product of our O-C disorder. Good luck.
Thank you! My therapist, however, doesn't seem to point out anything except how I look, how he feels about me, how important it is to keep working together..I believe I need to seek other counsel..but without him it seems so lonely..that's why the calls, the sessions..but yes, it is a cross addiction and the other things are by-products..thank you for your kind words and thoughtful response.
