Is there a way that you can add AA and GA to your daily life even if you're continuing your activities? You DO NOT have to follow the 12-steps... they are clearly stated as a suggestion, NOT an order. And, if you're feeling peer pressure in AA and GA on the 12-steps, blow it off. It helps tremendously to just make connection with people that have been EXACTLY where you are right now. And, if you find that those in the groups are pressuring you into the 12-steps, tell them you're on step one.... and stay on step one forever.
The first two times I tried AA, I wanted to drink.... a lot.... after every meeting... such pressure! But when I attend with the attitude that I'm there to see a different way of life, sans the 12-steps, I received a lot more out of it.
: i tryed GA, didnt work, tryed AA, same thing. what i am saying is no mather how hard i want it. no mather what i do, i cant resist. its killing me. what hurts the most is how much i want to get out of these addiction, and fail everytime, i feel powerless. ex; yesterday, i told myself all day that i afterwork i would go home and rest. i wanted that with all my heart, at the last minute. every effort i did all day to convince me to go home had vanished. in one instend, i was back gambling and drinking; got home drunk at around 10-11 (i dont really remember how) and with about 500$ less in my account. its always like that. Its like that with sex, drugs and everything else that is bad for me.
: i think alcoholism and gambling (the 2 worst) are just the point of the iceberg of my mental condition.
