GBL/GHB addiction is real. I know now, after progressing over 2.5 years from recreational user to full addict. For the last 8 months I was on ~30 ml pure GBL a day just to maintain, not even getting high. I decided to quit. Cold turkey did not work for me - extreme, unbearable anxiety; very high blood pressure & pulse rate, and not for just a day. Taper off is no better, though it somewhat attenuates the bp and pulse readings. Here's the trick to break the GBL/GHB physical habit:
0. You have to want to stop.
1. Stop! and throw away any stash.
2. Use Librium (25mg-50mg) & Clonidine HCL (0.1mg-0.2mg) every 4 hours, tapering off over 3-4 days, to handle the withdrawl symptoms. I started with 50mg/0.2mg, then 25mg/0.1mg during day and higher dose at night.
3. Take care of yourself as if you are sick, because you are.
Best of luck to all, like me, who thought GBL was non-addictive.
