: : Kimberly: what diseases?, how much oxycontin/day?, what strength? Have you considered a possibility that you are developing an addiction? Narcotics are THE WORST way to treat chronic pain and conditions.
: :I have degenerative disk disease, among other lumbar back disorders that cause me to be in constant pain. I take 30mg, 3x a day, and no, I do not think I am developing an addiction. I'm not sure I agree with your statement about narcotics being the worst way to treat such chronic pain, especially when it is well-monitored under the care of a Pain Management doctor. It can be trouble in the wrong hands. I was only looking for some information, and I appreciate your input.
I meant no disrespect. Please forgive me if you felt that. I can only say from great experience that 90 mg/day is alot of oxycontin to be taking. That's the equivilant of 18 percocet/day in a time realease form. I know also from experience that my personality changed from a happy-go-lucky guy to an irritable, grouchy jerk (to quote my daughter). It's true. I went to treatment and they (the professional counselors and doctors) told me to fact about using narcotics for chronic pain. Can you picture yourself taking narcotics for the next 50 years or so? Maybe you are fortunate and your personality hasn't and won't change. I wasn't so lucky. I still have chronic pain (neck disk disease) but I don';t any longer take narcotics and I have a great life today! I sincerely do wish you the very best with your problem. We all deserve happiness, don't we?! Again, please forgive me for my possible insensitivity.
